Squirrelpaw and her traveling companions have returned to the forest to warn their clanmates that they must leave their homes. The destruction of the forest has already begun, but the clans are reluctant to leave without a sign from the ancestors and Squirrelpaw doesn't want to leave until her missing sister Leafpaw has been found.
Prior knowledge of the series is required to comprehend this book, but fans will be pleased with this latest installment. The chapters alternate between Squirrelpaw and Leafpaw, so there's never a real lull in the story. Everything that should be resolved by the end of the novel is, so the reader won't feel cheated, but new questions and threats arise, so fans will wait anxiously for the next book in the series.
