Sarah Dearly can't believe it when her blind date bites her on the neck and tells her he's turned her into a vampire, but when the vampire hunters show up and "dust" her date, she becomes a believer.  While running for her life, Sarah stumbles across Thierry de Bennicoeur, a powerful vampire who is ready to end his existence after 600 years.  Thierry saves Sarah from the hunters and agrees to postpone his suicide long enough to teach her the ropes about being a vampire.

While the idea behind this story is humorous and intriguing, the way it all plays out is unsatisfactory.  It doesn't feel like a true romance because Thierry isn't what he appears to be and Sarah has another possible love interest who seems more appropriate.  The motivations of the characters don't ring true and the vampires come across as pathetic weaklings.

There are enough good vampire novels out at this time that you can save this one for a rainy day in 2007.
