The frame for these stories is that a father, trying to get his son to fall asleep, abridges some bedstories to make them go more quickly.

The concept of this book is clever.  Frustrated parents do try to hurry their kids off to bed and restless children always want one more story.  But this book is much too amusing to be read as a bedtime story.  It's hard to get children to sleep if they are laughing!  Some of the stories work better than others, like Sleeping Beauty and her parents waking up refreshed after their long sleep.  Both parents and children can appreciate this book.
