Sunset (Warriors: The New Prophecy #6) by Erin Hunter
"Before there is peace, blood will spill blood, and the lake will run red." Leafpool, the medicine cat for ThunderClan, receives this prophetic warning from the ancestors. Leafpool struggles to interpret this message, even though she knows she cannot stop the impending danger.
I can't say much more without ruining the surprise for avid readers of the series. If you haven't read the series, it's about a bunch of feral cats who live in a forest and are threatened by human encroachment. The cats live in 4 separate clans that are constantly engaged in a power struggle for more hunting territory.
The New Prophecy series reaches a satisfying conclusion for some of the main characters, but others are left hanging. The next series, The Power of Three, will focus on the next generation. Hopefully in that series we will learn the ultimate fate of some of our favorite felines.
