To Dance: A Ballerina's Graphic Novel

Siena Cherson Siegel

Rating:

When she was six years old Siena began to take dance lessons in Puerto Rico, which she continued after her family moved to Boston, moved back to Puerto Rico, and finally ended up in New York City where she studied at the School of American Ballet.  There she thrives until suffering a serious injury at the end of her teen years.  She goes on to college, but later returns to ballet because she "still needed to dance". To Dance is a beautiful story perfect for any aspiring ballerina.  The simple, clean, colorful illustrations truly complement the text, neither of which glamorize the tough world of ballet.  Everything flows well, from the text to the illustrations.

I'm a children's/ya librarian. I am not usually into graphic novels whatsoever, there have been a few rare cases. But, I LOVED this.
