In a futuristic dystopia, 24 teenagers, one boy and one girl from each of the 12 districts, must compete in a televised fight to the death in the Hunger Games. When her younger sister is picked as one of the tributes for her district, Katniss volunteers to take her place. the young man who is the other tribute from her district shows some kindness to Katniss, but how can she respond to his kindness when the only way she can survive is if he dies?
5/5 stars
It doesn't get better than The Hunger Games. I loved every second of this
book.
I have this book on my reading list, and I am glad to see that it got 5
stars and is compared to THE GIVER and LORD OF THE FLIES. On my blog, I
have posted about two Suzanne Collins books from the Gregor the Overlander
series, and I have been putting off reading this book because I love her,
but I was worried I would miss the Gregor series too much. Thanks for the
review!
I loved this book. "Hunger Games" was the best book I have read this year.
Book 2 in September...."Catching Fire."
I really like the Hunger Games...reminded me of John Marsden's Tomorrow
when the war began series as well as John Wyndham's The Chrysallids - oh I
do love a good dystopian novel! While you're waiting for Catching fire,
read Scott Westerfelds Uglies, Pretties etc as they're great reads too.
It has been a while since a book completely consumed me, and this is what
The Hunger Games did. Not only could I not put it down, I found myself
having dreams about the story! I was fortunate enough to read The Hunger
Games right around when Catching Fire came out, so I didn't have to wait
long for it. Both are amazing stories and I'm waiting impatiently for the
third book!
My son loved this book! He talked about it for at least a week!
